Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker and ceramicist who was one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th Century, widely known as the co-founder of the Cubist movement.
Born in Malaga in the Andalusia region of Spain, Picasso was baptized Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Crispiniano de la Santísima Trinidad, a series of names honouring various saints and relatives, added to these were Ruiz and Picasso, for his father and mother.
Amongst the many popular quotes attributed to him are; ‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up’ and ‘Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working’.
